House passes Budget

SHILLONG: The State Assembly on Wednesday passed the Budget for 2016-17  after the Meghalaya Appropriation (No.II) Bill, 2016  securing the nod of the House.
The Bill enables the withdrawal of over Rs 10,682. 7 crore( Rs 10,682,07,89,000)  out of the consolidated fund of Meghalaya for the financial year 2016-17 .
House prorogued :  Meanwhile, the Assembly was prorogued after the 14- day Budget session on Wednesday.
During the session which began on March 4, various issues were raised including the empowerment of headmen, law and order situation especially in Garo Hills, and others.
The creation of 15 police stations, up gradation of three others, creation of four each civil sub division and C&RD blocks were the major  announcements made by the Chief Minister Mukul Sangma while presenting the Budget during the session.
