Meghalaya People’s Committee on Aadhaar is organising a discussion on Aadhaar Bill and human rights on March 29 at the Khasi National Dorbar Hall, Mawkhar at 11 AM. The speakers will be Rev. P.B.M. Basaiawmoit, KSU general secretary Auguster Jyrwa and Magsaysay Award winner and independent legal researcher Usha Ramanathan.
Celebration
A one day celebration of the World Meteorological Day was organised on March 23 at the India Meteorological Department, 3rd Mile, Upper Shillong. Activities which create awareness and understanding of weather and climate including exposure of school children to the instruments used for meteorological data collection were organized under the theme ‘Hotter, Drier, Wetter. Face the Future.’
Biodiversity fair
ICAR-National Bureau of Plant Genetic Research BPGR, ICAR Research Centre for NE Region and Rilum Foundation, organised a one day Biodiversity fair cum Plant Genetic Resources cum awareness camp at Smit on March 23. Around 150 participants from six villages attended the programme.
Training prog
Central Ground Water Board, NER under Ministry of Water Resources, River development & Ganga Rejuvenation, Government of India and Rajiv Gandhi National Ground Water Training & Research Institute, Raipur, held a two-day training on March 22 & 23, on “Aquifer management through participatory approach and local water issues”.
Dol Utsav
Srijani, a socio cultural organization, together with the participation of women from Jail Road will organize ‘Dol Ustav’ on March 24 from 11 AM to 1 PM in connection with the ‘Beti Bachao’ campaign to create awareness among the people.
Charity
Members of Bongo Badhu Mahila Samiti, a philanthropic organization run by women based at Forest Colony, Polo, distributed food and clothes to underprivileged children on Saturday on the premises of Nartiang Durga Temple, Jaintia Hills.
