BSF jawan survives massive heart attack

SHILLONG: A BSF jawan who suffered a massive heart attack during election duty in the remote area of Hailakandi, Assam survived due to timely treatment at NEIGRIHMS after he was referred from a Silchar Medical College and Hospital on Sunday.
A BSF statement said that earlier, the jawan, identified as constable A K Bhutia was shifted to Silchar and from there; the BSF authorities airlifted him to NEIGRIHMS for specialized treatment.
As per the statement, it was for the first time in Northeast that a successful primary angioplasty was performed on a BSF jawan.
He suffered Thrombolytic symptoms at Silchar and was subsequently shifted to NEIGRIHMS. The department of cardiology, NEIGRIHMS constituted a team headed by Prof Animesh Mishra and Dr. Amit Malviya performed the angioplasty.
