SHILLONG: KHADC Chief Executive member (CEM) P.N. Syiem on Wednesday dismissed allegations by some KHADC MDCs of uneven distribution of Rs 133.12 crore sanctioned by the Centre.
Syiem said that only a general proposal was made regarding the fund allocation and that Rs 2 crore each for 2015-16 and 2016-17 will be distributed among the MDCs as per scheme proposals.
Earlier, some MDCs had alleged that Syiem and his close associates had taken the lion’s share of Rs 87 crore out of the Central allocation.
According to Syiem, the traditional heads can send proposals for developmental schemes in those constituencies which are no longer represented by the local MDC who have resigned.
“When the State government releases the fund, we will work    out the modalities on the scheme   proposals,” Syiem said, reiterating there is no discrimination as far as fund allocation is concerned.
He said that the Council is also committed to generate revenue through the implementation of schemes from special central assistance which can ultimately help in payment of salary of the staff as currently salary of staff and MDCs depend on the royalty collected on coal and limestone.
