NONGSTOIN: A person identified as Lonal Langstieh (60) of Bhoirymbong, Ribhoi District died while two other persons were seriosly injured after their vehicle fell off the road into a deep gorge on Sunday at Mawyiap situated in Mawthawpdah village under South West Khasi Hills.
Lonal Langstieh, who was driving the Scorpio bearing registration number- ML 05 9094, died on the spot while two others identified as Ripple Sten (43) and Medalin Sten (49) of Bhoirymbong sustained grave injuries in the incident.
Source said that the incident took place at around 2 pm and also added that all three of them were on their way to Wahkaji to purchase traditional medicine and the Scorpio fell into a deep gorge only after reaching Mawyiap.
The body of the driver was handed over to his family members for performing his last rites while the other two injured were admitted at Civil Hospital.
