Two women offenders held in city

SHILLONG: Taking advantage of the closure of wine shops in the city, two women who were arrested by the police earlier for selling liquor illegally, got back to their old habits, yet again landing up in police custody.
Sources said on Sunday that they had no sense of remorse or any respect for the law despite their previous convictions by the court U/S 110 Act for illegally selling liquor, they still shamelessly carried on with the sale.
On receiving information from some citizens, the police personnel of Shillong Sadar Police Station swung into action on Sunday and conducted a raid and the two women identified as Susan Marbaniang  and Beatrice Marbaniang were caught in M.Tympuin, adviser of  Synjuk ki Nongsynshanr Shnong told media after the meeting that wine shops will not be allowed to operate in areas like Nongritong, Pyndenglawar, Mawrok Porsohsat and Photjaud since the NOCs of these wine shops were invalid and the Sordar had not renewed or reissued the same.
“Since the wine store owners had not responded to our demands, the meeting has decided to launch a massive protest at Pyndenglawar on April 6 and a Black flag day in Nongstoin.
