Guwahati: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday sought the blessings of Maa Kamakhya and the voters of Assam for a clear mandate for the BJP-led alliance in this election.
After paying obeisance at the ancient Kamakhya temple on his arrival here in the morning Prime Minister Modi while addressing four election rallies called upon the voters of Assam to vote bring a BJP-led government headed by Sarbananda Sonowal to power so that “Assam can be really put on the fast track of development.”
“There is talk going on some quarters about hung assembly, there is no point being in back seat drive so don’t give remote control to others. Never vote for a hung assembly especially in not this election that will decide the future of Assam” Modi said while addressing four rallies at Raha, Rangiya, Barpeta  Road and Guwahati.
Reiterating that he has only three agendas – development, speedy development and all-encompassing development  Modi said that successive corrupt and inefficient Congress government had plunged Assam into a pit of backwardness during the last 60 years though the state was among the five most prosperous states at the time in Independence.
Referring to what former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh said here yesterday in a poll rally, Modi said, “Manmohan Singhji has said that work should speak, not the words. I agree with him because now work has started speaking as two coal scam accused has been sent to jail and the rest will follow  soon,”
Modi also mentioned about the Sharadha Chit Fund Scam in which, he said, poor people were looted in West Bengal, Odisha, Bihar and Assam and politicians were involved in looting the poor. He promised that all guilty of involvement in looting the poor would be booked.
He said all the 3000 un-electrified villages in Assam would be powered by electricity within next two years along with the rest of such villages in the country and reiterated that five crore LPG connections would be given in village household in next three years.
He enthralled the gatherings in the rallies with a timeless number of Late Dr Bhupen Hazarika – Bohag Matho Eti Geet Nohoy, Nohoy Bohag Eti Maah, Asomiya Jatir E Ayush Rekha, Janajiwanor E Saah.
It means Bohag (the spring festival that begins the Assamese New year on April 15) is the lifeline of Assamese nation. So, he called upon the voters to begin next Assamese New Year with a new BJP-led government to build a new prosperous Assam.
“After the first phase of polls in Assam, the glow has gone from the face of Assam chef minister Tarun Gogoi who has now called for all forces from New Delhi for the second phase poll. But those who could not save Delhi for themselves, how will they save Assam for Gogoi,” Modi quipped.
