SHILLONG: Garo Students’ Union, Central Executive Committee met NSCN-IM leadership on April 4 in Nagaland to ensure recognition of Garo people residing in Nagaland like other recognized tribes of Nagaland.
During the meeting, the GSU delegation stressed that Garos residing in Nagaland were also original inhabitants of the State.
The students’ body urged the NSCN-IM leaders for accommodating Garos after the final settlement of the Indo– Naga peace process.
The GSU delegation also urged ‘Home Minister’ (Kilo Kilonser) of NSCN-IM for his intervention in a case of land dispute faced by one Garo family at Eralibill village in Dimapur so that the family gets justice.
The GSU delegation and the members of the GSU Nagaland Zone had attended a public meeting at Eralibill village on April 3 and discussed various concerns of Garo residents in Nagaland.
The president of the GSU Nagaland Zone, Cliff Marak ,who chaired the meeting apprised the GSU delegation from Meghalaya about various problems being faced by them in Nagaland.
