SHILLONG: After a long winter, it can be safely said that summer has finally set in with temperatures rising over 28 degrees Celsius in the city on Monday.
In the last couple of days, the temperature has shown a steady increase and officials of the Meteorological department said that the temperature may go up further in the coming days.
With the onset of summer, sale of cold drinks, umbrellas and ice creams have also gone up in the city.
On Monday, even people thronging the Weiking ground were seen carrying umbrellas for protection from the sun.
Meanwhile, residents also feared that the current trend may soon result in water scarcity in Shillong
Officials from Meteorological department informed that the city recorded a maximum temperature of over 29 degrees in 2014.
