Hardcore GNLA cadre held, two more surrender

NONGSTOIN: Acting on a tip off regarding the presence of a GNLA cadre at Shallang area, Shallang Police conducted an operation in Shallang- Rongkhugre area on Wednesday and arrested a hardcore GNLA cadre identified as Arjen N Marak alias Chukhor of Nengju, West Khasi Hills.
An operation has been launched to nab other militants who might be present in the area.
Meanwhile, two GNLA workers – Lopstar R Marak (28) and Kimjan N Marak (22) – surrendered to North Garo Hills police with the help of family members and Church leaders on Wednesday morning.
Lopstar Marak of Doba A’pal village was working for the GNLA as an over ground worker providing details on police movements and also helping with the supply of ration for the militants.
Kimjan Marak alias Janjan, hailing from Resagre village, worked over ground for GNLA ‘commander’ Pilliport D Shira.
Both collaborators of the banned outfit had fled their homes a few months back after police began a search for them. Unable to sustain life in the jungles they surrendered to authorities.
