SHILLONG: As the MUA- II government completes three years in office, any re-shuffle of the ministry is unlikely with Chief Minister Mukul Sangma remaining non-committal on the issue.
“How do I dodge your question? I can only say that it all depends on the circumstances; if it is there, I will share it with you all,” the chief minister said on Wednesday when a scribe asked him about the ministry reshuffle after the cabinet meeting.
There were speculations in the past that the chief minister may go for a cabinet re-jig to ensure better performance of the government to face the electorates in the 2018 Assembly polls.
Sources said that though the chief minister was keen to execute the reshuffle, the AICC was not giving its nod to avoid any dissatisfaction among the Cabinet ministers who would be dropped in the process.
According to sources, the AICC wants to avoid any dissidence in the party in Meghalaya as disgruntlement had resulted in the change of government in Arunachal Pradesh as well as demand for change of leadership in Manipur.
With just two years left for the Assembly polls in Meghalaya, indications are that the chief minister will have the same Cabinet members till the end of the term.
