TURA: The GHADC MDC who was recently in the eye of a storm for an alleged remark pertaining to the tribal identity of the Garos that was posted on his Facebook account has apologized and blamed hackers for the post.
The non-tribal MDC from Balachanda district council constituency, Sofior Rahman issued a statement regarding the case  apologizing and at the sametime promising to get to the bottom of the matter.
“Being a member of Garo Hills Autonomous District Council and a citizen of Garo Hills,I have enormous respect, love and affection towards the Garo Community.I have married a Garo lady and my children bear garo blood. So the question to condemn the garo community of any sort does not arise at all,” said the MDC adding that he was equally aggrieved as his Garo brethen on seeing the Facebook post.
“I had removed the statement and sought apology the very moment I saw it. My facebook accounts were hacked and I am trying to find the person behind it who tries to defame me and put me in an embrassing position as the statement is against my principle and idiology,” said MDC Rahman.
Last week several Garo organizations had raised a hue and cry over the statement attributed to the MDC in which certain wordings had derogatory words towards the Garo community.
