SHILLONG: United Democratic Party (UDP), Mawkyrwat Circle led by Commander Shangpliang, met PWD (Roads) Minister, Sniawbhalang Dhar on Friday to apprise him of the poor connectivity of roads in the District Headquarter and in the entire area.
The delegation has urged the minister to upgrade Mawngap-Ranikor Road via Mawkyrwat (being the District Head Quarter) as National Highway as a means to provide better connectivity for the people of South West Khasi Hills District.
The wooden bridge in South West Khasi Hills district, Phodsala Bridge and Jashiar Bridge over Umrilang River should  be replaced with  permanent RCC bridges, the Circle said.
Shangpliang urged the minister concerned to provide necessary sanction for more than 10 roads for which the estimate of expenditure has already been prepared and submitted to the head office by the office of the Executive Engineer, Mawkyrwat.  The minister has assured them that he will do the needful.
