Hailstorm damages over 100 houses in East Garo Hills

SHILLONG: More than hundred houses were damaged in several villages under Rongjeng C&RD Block in East Garo Hills due to a severe hailstorm which lashed the area on Sunday afternoon.
East Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner Cyril Diengdoh said tin roofs of many houses were damaged, but there was no loss of human life.
The BDO is carrying out the assessment and the extent of damage will be known only by Monday, the official said.
According to the official, the number of houses affected will be over hundred.
