NONGSTOIN: Over a hundred senior members of Congress on Saturday were expelled from the Congress after they lodged complaint against self-styled Nongstoin Block Congress president Albinus Kharbani , who had supported HSPDP in the by-election last year where the Congress did not emerge victorious.
The meeting was supposed to elect a new president of NBCC but the current president Albinus was again re-elected un-contested after he expelled all the senior Congress leaders. Only 27 members supported the re-election of Albinus.
B K Bani, working president of NBCC told newsmen here on Sunday said that the dictatorship of NBCC president will lead nowhere as the Congress will not emerge successful in any election at Nongstoin.
DCC president Boldness Nongum did not take any action in this regard.
The complaint was raised by B.K.Bani along with other Congress units citing the reason that Albinus did not support a Congress candidate in the by-election last year and that he sent SMS to all the primary units’ presidents and delegates to support an HSPDP candidate instead of Gabriel Wahlang who was the Congress candidate.
“We are very un-happy with the dictatorial attitude of  Albinus Kharbani and we demand the MPCC to open a dialogue between the disbanded members and the NBCC,” senior Congress men said. On Saturday, only 27 members who supported Albinus attended the meeting, but hundreds of presidents and delegates from primary units  left un-happy from the Nongstoin Congress Bhavan.
Bani also added that it was the first time that a President took such an action whereby he chased away not only the members of the Congress but even observers like Srally Rashir, JTS Thongni, adviser of the Youth Congress F.Lyngkhoi, former president N.Nongdkhar and working president.
