Aizawl: A fire broke out in Civil Secretariat building, gutting properties worth around Rs 1 crore, police said on Tuesday.
The blaze broke out in three departments – Information and Communication Technology, the Revenue and Land Settlement and the Higher and Technical Education housed in Mizoram’s Civil Secretariat Annexe-I building Monday night, a senior police official said.
The flames gutted around Rs 1 crore worth of government properties before firemen could douse it, Aizawl District SP Lalhuliana Fanai told PTI. However, there was no report of injury or casualty in the incident. Fanai said that though the cause of fire was yet to be ascertained, electric short-circuit could be the reason for the accident.
A probe has been launched in this connection. The building, located at Treasury Square, adjoining Raj Bhavan, houses small secretariat offices. Fortunately, the data centre remained unscathed. (PTI)
