Dikkanchi to file nomination on April 27

SHILLONG: On the first day of filing nomination papers, NPP, Congress and GNC have collected the papers from the office of West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner Pravin Bakshi who is the returning officer for Tura Lok Sabha seat.
The Congress candidate for Tura by poll Dikkanchi Shira, whose name is pending for the formal approval of the Congress president Sonia Gandhi after the State Election Committee gave its nod on Thursday ,will file her nominations on April 27 in Tura.
Sources from the Congress informed that party has a good chance of winning the election provided that the party men work hard.
According to sources, all in the party is happy with the decision of the State Election Committee to short list the name of Shira.
Meanwhile, the Returning Officer Bakshi said over phone on Friday that since it was the first day, the political parties have  only collected nomination papers.
Though Saturday is a holiday, nominations will be accepted by him. The last day for filing of nominations is on April 29.   As per the notification issued by Bakshi, nomination papers of candidates should be delivered to him in his office chamber from 11 AM to 3 PM during office hours.
The scrutiny of the papers would be done on April 30, and the deadline for withdrawal of candidates has been fixed for May 2 before 3:00 PM.
