SHILLONG: Despite the heat condition persisting for the last one week, Shillong climate is yet to cross maximum of 28 degree Celsius during the period. Moreover, the Shillong weather is still comfortable compared to other Northeastern hill states and the rest of India: thanks to the breeze blowing across the city. However, the sale of ice creams and cold drinks shot up and people chose to wear summer clothes.
The only time this month the Shillong maximum weather touched 28 degree Celsius was on April 11 ( 28.1 degree)     When apprised about the heat condition, an official with the Upper Shillong Seismological observatory which also provides weather data, said that Shillong is still experiencing comfortable weather and added that there was no reason for anyone to complain as the condition is worst elsewhere in the country compared to Shillong.
Mercury had soared to 48.5 degrees Celsius in Odisha’s Titlagarh district a few days ago.
Despite the hot weather in city , the forecast of the Regional  Meteorological  Centre  Guwahati says that thunder squall with wind speed exceeding 50 kmph is very likely to occur at isolated places over Assam and  Meghalaya on April  28 and 29
