SHILLONG: The MeECL has lost over Rs 317.89 crores due to non-implementation of Section 56 of the Electricity Act 2003 and the Meghalaya Electricity Supply Code 2012 Section 9.1 (3), 9.2 in Meghalaya.
RTI findings revealed that no action is taken against erring consumers who do not pay their bills.
The RTI was filed by one Curtis Rani who claimed that “fake electricity bills are prepared by the meter readers, who do not visit the consumers’ homes, at MeECL’s Sohiong Division.”
