One dead in mishap on Shillong Bypass

SHILLONG: One person died on the spot in an accident on the Shillong Bypass on Thursday morning.As per information, a Maruti Alto car (AS23 C 6226) heading towards Dawki from Guwahati hit a road divider and overturned when the driver lost control of the vehicle while driving over a speed breaker on the Shillong Bypass at Nongtraw under Umsning Block in Ri Bhoi.
A passenger died on the spot while two others sustained injuries and were shifted to Bhoirymbong CHC and then to Shillong Civil Hospital.
Though the identity of the deceased could not be ascertained, the two injured were identified as Nitul Bora Gohain (33), driver of the car, and Jyothash Phukan (50), wife of the deceased.
