Strom claims one in Arunachal

ITANAGAR: A person was killed and two others were grievously injured in a storm at Khonsa townhip in Tirap district, official reports said here on Monday. The reports said the storm on Sunday damaged many houses also. The 21-year-old dead person was identified and the injured were construction labourers from Karimganj in Assam. They were admitted to the district hospital at Khonsa. District authorities said ex-gratia to the dead and the injured would be paid as per ex isting norms. Governor J P Rajkhowa announced a compensation of Rs 1 lakh to the next to the kin of the dead and Rs 25000 each to the injured. The amount would be placed under Deputy Commissioner for disbursement. He also appealed to the people to take necessary precautions and be more careful during natural calamities. Chief Minister Kalikho Pul announced an ex-gratia relief of Rs 4 lakh to the next of kin of the dead and the injured as per norms, the report added. (PTI)
