Govt awaits HC nod on spl court

SHILLONG: The state government is awaiting the nod from High Court of Meghalaya for the formation of a Special Court to try various crimes against women.
An official source on Tuesday said that the state government is keen to setup the Special Court and hence the matter was referred to the High Court for the  formation of Special Court.
Soon after the rape and murder of the Upper Shillong girl in March, there was demand from several quarters for the formation of the Special Court to try the pending rape cases so that the victims can justice at the earliest.
