SHILLONG: The A’chik Youth Council (A.Y.C), Tura has slammed the state government and the Education department for the delay in the disbursement of scholarships for the year 2013, 2014 and 2015 to the students.
“The delay in the disbursement of pending scholarships to the students means that their rights are being violated,” Dimseng  Marak, president A’chik Youth Council said in a statement on Wednesday.
According to Marak, many students in Garo Hills come from poor economic background and they cannot afford to buy books and pay admission fees to continue with their education.  The Council while threatening legal action, asked the government to disburse the money before the new academic session which will begin after May.
