6 Adivasi ultras held with weapons

Guwahati: Based on specific information, Indian Army engaged in counter-insurgency operation apprehended six hardcore-armed All Adivasi National Liberation Army (AANLA) cadres including Anand Nayak alias Dilip Nayak, the self-styled chairman of the group, in East Karbi Anglong (EKA)on Tuesday.
A defence spokesman here informed on Wednesday that the operation was launched on accurate information of Army Intelligence. These cadres had recently entered the EKA to carry out a weapons deal close to Assam-Nagaland border in the district and were nabbed from one of their transit locations in village Jilangso under Bakoliya police station.
The apprehended Adivasi militants were identified as : Anand Nayak alias Dilip Nayak, Sumon Gaur (district commander), Mandeep Gour, Kanak Ram, Uttam Munda and Riten Munda.
Six factory-made pistols with live ammunition (two rounds of 9mm pistol and four rounds of 7.65 mm rifle) and two hand grenades were recovered from them.
Moreover, one NDFB(S) militant was also apprehended from Gossaingaon market in Kokrajhar district in western Assam by Army and Kokrajhar Police in a joint operation conducted based on specific information.
The apprehended Bodo militants was identified as Swrwng Narzary and he was involved in various cases of extortion, kidnapping, providing logistics support to NDFB (S).
