International Labour Day observed

NONGSTOIN: International Labour Day was observed by the District Legal Services, West Khasi Hills District on Wednesday by holding a legal awareness programme at the Industrial Estate, Mawiaban in Nongstoin.
The awareness camp was attended by District and Sessions Judge, West Khasi Hills, G. Rani and Chief Judicial Magistrate, West Khasi Hills, F.S. Sangma, besides the district superintendent of police, the public prosecutor, West Khasi Hills, S.N. Marak and Deputy Labour Commissioner P.T. Blah.
The gathering was attended by about two hundred workers.
Addressing the gathering, Labour Inspectors B. Pyrbot and K. Marak informed them about the various rights available to the people belonging to labour class and the different laws enacted by the Government in relation to labour.
The workers who attended the programme was extremely happy and encouraged by the fact that their rights have been recognized and they can enforce their rights.
