Revival of Fast Track Courts on the cards

SHILLONG: The state government is still examining the demand from various quarters to revive Fast Tract Courts or to establish a Special Court under the Meghalaya Special Courts Act,2014  to deal with crimes against women.
The Law department said on Wednesday that the government is calling for information from all courts about the number of rape cases and other cases related to women pending in the receptive courts in the state including the three District Council Courts.
The law department has clarified that the state government is yet to send any official proposal to the High Court of Meghalaya regarding the formation of Special Court.
