SHILLONG: The mortal remains of former Rajya Sabha member and Congress leader O.L. Nongtdu, who passed away on Saturday, will be laid to rest on Monday.
The funeral service will start at 1 PM from his residence at Pynthorbah and will proceed to Pynthorumkhrah Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
Several political leaders of the State and prominent citizens paid their last respects to the departed leader on Saturday and Sunday.
Meanwhile, the NPP in a statement issued to the media on Sunday said that it is deeply saddened by the demise of Nongtdu.
“His long innings in Meghalaya politics and his numerous contributions to the State will always be remembered. We would like to offer our sincere condolences to the family members of the bereaved family. His death has left a big vacuum in our State,” said James K Sangma, spokesperson of NPP Meghalaya State unit.
