SHILLONG: The Joint Action Committee of All Teachers’ Association of Meghalaya (JACATAM) is firm on its decision to push the government to meet its provincialisation of teachers’ services in Government aided schools demand.
A day after informing that the demand has been taken up at the government level, JACATAM chairman, ED Nongsiang said that the association will wait till May 21 for the Chief Minister to take a final call on the matter, beyond which, a month’s deadline would be served to the government.
“After May 21 we will serve a one month deadline to the state government after which we will resort to agitation. However, if the government initiates talks with the association, we will cease the agitation plan,” he said.
For future course of action, the JACATAM will form an action committee with Poly Warlarpih as chairman and Esther Kharbamon as secretary along with seven members from different teachers’ associations while JACATAM leaders will be the ex officio members.
