TURA: Chief Minister Mukul Sangma has reacted, in a subtle manner, to BJP leader Nalin Kohli’s attack on him terming it as part of the latter’s political compulsion.
The senior Supreme Court lawyer and the BJP’s in-charge for Meghalaya had accused Mukul Sangma’s way of functioning as one in a monarchy.
“Mukul Sangma should understand that Meghalaya is not a kingdom and he is not a king,” was the phrase the BJP leader had tagged on the chief minister while interacting with media persons on Monday in Tura.
“He (Kohli) should first interact with the person before framing these phrases in describing this person. He has to be around with me to be able to articulate appropriately what exactly is the person he is referring to. He must have his political compulsions to actually comment on that,” remarked the chief minister.
Reacting to the under-development statement of the BJP leader, Mukul Sangma suggested that he should analyse the past and present position of the state in the field of development.
On the Congress tirade against the BJP despite it not contesting this by-election, Mukul Sangma mentioned, “Every decision the Modi Government takes is going to be part of those who is part of the NDA. So it is important to enlighten the people.”
The chief minister held a public meeting at Hulukona village of Zikzak in South West Garo Hills district to boost support for his wife and Congress candidate Dikkanchi D Shira, who was at Chokpot holding a public rally on the same day accompanied by Chokpot MLA Bluebell Sangma.
The NPP candidate and younger son of Late P A Sangma was in the NPP stronghold of East Garo Hills holding several rallies at Songsak, Rongjeng and Williamnagar.
Meanwhile, former chief minister and the MPCC chief D D Lapang held public meetings at Rongkhon and Mondoltilla, both localities of Tura town.
