Four Muslim group militants arrested in Assam

GUWAHATI: Four armed militants belonging to the banned Muslim Tiger Force of Assam (MTFA) were arrested during a joint search operation carried out by the Army with Assam Police at Abhayapuri in Bongaigaon district on Thursday.
The apprehended militants were identified as Ismail Ali, Mohidul Islam, Mouizinur Ahmed and Saiyyuddin Islam.
Three Pistols, three mobile phones and other warlike stores were recovered from the apprehended individuals, a defence source informed here.
The source claimed that the apprehended individuals were involved in cases of extortion and kidnapping.
This apprehension is a significant step by Army keeping in mind that the declaration of results of Assam Assembly elections was round the corner.
The source claimed that the Army had been restricting subversive activities by insurgents and radical ethnic groups, which are in a lookout to cause a security threat in th State and the region as a whole.
