Storm hits Jaintia Hills

SHILLONG:  A cyclonic storm lashed several parts of East Jaintia Hills on Monday. Informing this, the Deputy Commissioner of the district WR Lyngdoh said that   CGI sheets of several houses were blown away.
As many as 168 people were affected by the storm. The district administration will distribute relief materials from Tuesday, he said adding that no relief camp would be set  up in the area. Meanwhile, our Jowai correspondent added that  the rainfall accompanied by   thunder and strong wind lashed East Jaintia Hills and West Jaintia Hills.  Several trees and   MeECL poles were uprooted. 37 houses were damaged in Byndihati.Local MLA Justine Dkhar meanwhile, also distributed CGI sheets among the affected people.
