IAF meet stresses on need for transparency in defence expenditure

SHILLONG: The need to ensure transparency in defence related expenditure was stressed during the three-day conference of Senior Accounts Officers (SAOs) of all airbases under Eastern Air Command held at Upper Shillong. The meet concluded at Headquarters EAC on Saturday.
The high-level financial planning conference was chaired by Air Marshal C Hari Kumar, AOC-in-C, EAC, IAF.
Principal Integrated Financial Advisor (Air Force), Rasika Choube, addressed the conference on the last day. Choube explained in detail the future of all Central government financial transactions including transparency in all expenditure by e-procurement, e-tendering and e-payment besides other changes in procedures.
Air Vice Marshal SM Subhani, Assistant Chief of Air Staff Financial Planning also addressed the conference. He explained and clarified on various issues relating to financial planning in the Indian Air Force.
Air Vice Marshal Manavendra Singh, Senior Officer-in-Charge Administration, HQ EAC said that the EAC IAF was giving priority to ongoing modernization of airfields, Advance Landing Grounds (ALGs) and other associated infrastructure and work worth nearly Rs. 8,000 crore worth was underway in EAC’s area of responsibility.
The conference laid emphasis on the protocols for procurement process, audit and use of non-public funds for the welfare-related activities of air warriors.
