Shillong to celebrate Bob Dylan’s 75th birthday

SHILLONG: Once again, Shillong is all set to celebrate the birthday of American music legend Bob Dylan in its own inimitable style on May 24.This year’s celebration is expected to be more special as it is the popular music icon’s 75th birthday. It will also mark 44 years since Shillong began commemorating the birthday of Bob Dylan, who, over the course of five decades, has changed the face of folk music and rock ‘n’ roll.This year, just like every other since 1972, Lou Majaw will honour the birthday of Dylan with a day of poetry and music.  The day’s events will kick off with a poetry session at Cafe Shillong, Laitumkhrah from 2:00pm onwards, followed by a tribute concert at Cloud 9, Hotel Centre Point, Police Bazar at 8:00pm.Joining ‘Lou Majaw and Friends’ on the occasion will be Arjun Sen and Rahul Guha Roy.
