Nartiang resident bags national award

SHILLONG: A 58-year-old person with disability from Nartiang under Thadlaskein C&RD Block in West Jaintia Hills has been presented the National Award in Cane & Bamboo.
Asuk Suting, a member of the Khasi Disabilities Association, West Jaintia Hills, told reporters that he spent his time making bamboo products even while at the Civil Hospital.
He said that he has been involved in making bamboo products since his childhood. “In 2007 I registered myself with the Ministry of Textile and I impart training to others in the region as well,” he said.
He informed that he had applied for the National Award in 2013 and received it this year.
KDA president Starwin Kharjana informed that the association will soon felicitate Asuk Suting.
