SHILLONG: Opposition UDP is open to the idea of forming a ‘grand alliance’ to take on the ruling Congress in the Assembly elections scheduled to be held in 2018 in the state.
Informing this after a high-level meeting of the party held here on Monday,     Paul Lyngdoh, working president of the party, said that the party would take the lead to hold discussion with the like minded parties in this regard.
The meeting discussed the visit of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Shillong on May 27. “The party has decided to   take up several burning issues of the state with the Prime Minister,” he said. The meeting also discussed the results of Tura by-poll.
