BJP tightlipped on Mukul, Pala joining saffron party

Sitting MLAs, MDCs in touch with us: BJP chief

SHILLONG: State BJP chief Shibun Lyngdoh has hinted that many sitting MLAs and MDCs have sent feelers to join the BJP.
“There are feelers from sitting MLAs and MDCs to join the BJP, but it is too early to divulge the details,” Lyngdoh told The Shillong Times on Sunday.
According to the State BJP leader, the party will have to analyze on what conditions they want to join the BJP.
“We are yet to meet to discuss the matter but they (MLAs, MDCs) are sending feelers. However, we need to first get the green signal from our central leaders,” Lyngdoh said.
Asked whether Chief Minister Mukul Sangma is joining the saffron party, Lyngdoh said he did not wish to comment anything on the matter.
In the past, to a question by media persons, the chief minister had said that the question of him joining the BJP did not arise.
In addition, there were also rumours of Shillong MP Vincent Pala joining the BJP which was also denied by Pala.
“Let the time come, then we will reveal to the media as to who will be joining the BJP,” the state party president said when queried about the chief minister and the Lok Sabha member.     Congress to collapse on its own’
Commenting on the demand for change of leadership in the Congress Legislature Party, the BJP chief said it was an internal matter of the Congress.
“However, as our leader Nalin Kohli had said, the Congress government will fall soon due to its many internal contradictions,” Lyngdoh said.
