Guwahati: The mortal remains of martyr havildar Hangpang Dada of 35 Rashtriya Rifles(Assam Regiment) were laid to rest on Sunday with full military honours at his native village Borduria of Khonsa in Tirap district of Arunachal Pradesh.
Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh Kalikho Pul who was present at the ceremony, paid floral tributes to the brave departed warrior of Indian Army. Education minister of Arunachal Pradesh, Wangle Lowangdong, local MLA, civil and military dignitaries, and about 1000 residents of the area were present to pay their homage to the departed soldier, a defence spokesman, Lt Col S Newton informed here.
Pul announced an ex-gratia relief of Rs 20 Lakhs to the family of deceased soldier, funding of education of the children till graduation and erection of a memorial at the burial place of the martyr.
Havildar JD Hangpang Dada laid down his life on May 26 at Naugam Sector of Jammu and Kashmir, while foiling a bid by heavily armed terrorists to infiltrate into Indian territory.
The team of soldiers under the leadership of havildar Hangpang Dada successfully foiled the evil designs of the infiltrators and eliminated four heavily armed terrorists, but in the ensuing fire fight Hangpang sustained fatal gunshot wounds and succumbed to it later making supreme sacrifice in the line of duty.
The martyred soldier is survived by his wife Chasen Lowang Dada, daughter Roukhin Dada (11) and Son Senwang Dada (7).
