Alleged extortion by home guard personnel

SHILLONG: A home guard personnel allegedly demanded money from a person and assaulted him in the city.
A woman lodged a complaint that on May 24 at around 9 pm, the home guard personnel identified as Marbiang Shangpliang demanded money from her son Raplang Challam and assaulted him at Wahthapbru here. The victim sustained injuries and was shifted to a hospital.
In another incident, at around 2.15 am on Sunday, unidentified miscreants assaulted Home Guard personnel at Riat Khwan Forest Beat, Mawiong Rim and drove away one timber laden truck (AS-01FC-1871).
In the incident, one home guard personnel, Ribhalang Mynsong sustained injuries.
