Order
The West Jaintia Hills District Magistrate has promulgated an order under Section 144 CrPC prohibiting plying of heavy vehicles including trucks and buses through Shangpung- Sutnga road in view of the weak condition of a bridge on the road. Only light motor vehicles will be allowed to cross the bridge till the restoration work is completed.
Agitation
The FCI employees will hold the next phase of nationwide strike on June 9 and 10 and an indefinite fast by the general secretary and president of Bhartiya Khadya Nigam Karmachari Sangh from June 28 followed by indefinite strike from June 29 for their pending demands.
Free ration
Launch of free monthly ration scheme and pension by Ardhendu Chaudhuri Charitable Trust for the old and the poor will be held at Rilbong Hindu Dharma Sabha premises on June 5 at 10:30 AM.
Workshop
Meghalaya Basin Development Authority will conduct a half day workshop on climate change and green economy as part of World Environment Day 2016, on June 10 at the Conference Hall, Shillong College.
IGNOU exam
The IGNOU June term-end exams will begin on June 1 and around 5,50,000 students will be taking examinations all over the country. Around 5600 students will be appearing their exams in Meghalaya.
