Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Kalikho Pul has met his Maharashtra counterpart Devendra Fadnavis and demanded a CBI probe into the death of Marnya Doye, who died under mysterious circumstances on April 26 in Raigad. Pul had called on the Maharashtra Chief Minister in Mumbai on Saturday and requested him the case be investigated by CBI,to which Fadnavis readily agreed, an official release said here on Sunday.
“There is a fear and suspicion of foul play in her death (expressed) by her family and some facts have come to light that suggest Doye may have been a victim of murder,” Pul told Fadnavis. “At the same time, the incident has created a sense of insecurity among people from Arunachal as well as from other states in the northeast. There are also apprehensions about the outcome of the investigations into the case and its neutrality,” Pul stressed.
To address the “feeling of alienation” among the people of Arunachal in particular and the northeast in general in Mumbai, the two chief ministers agreed on several confidence building measures, the release said.
Fadnavis also agreed to a proposal by Pul for setting up a coordination-cum-redressal committee to address the grievances of people from the northeast. (PTI)
