SHILLONG: Newly elected Tura MP has endorsed the idea of a separate Garoland which according to him will bring administration and development closer to the people.
Speaking to The Shillong Times on Wednesday, Sangma recollected how his late father, Purno A Sangma believed in the idea of smaller states in a country of diversities.
Conrad Sangma added that the NPP would work towards fulfilling the aspirations of late Purno Sangma.
It may be mentioned that for late Purno Sangma, a separate state for the Garos was one of the major priorities.
Conrad Sangma recently defeated his Congress rival Dikkanchi Shira by a record margin in the Tura by-poll.
