Woman dies after eating mushroom
SHILLONG: Yet another case of death due to consumption of poisonous mushroom surfaced in the State after a woman died at NEIGRIHMS on Monday. The woman has been identified as one Usha Karki (34). Last year, more than five people had died after consuming poisonous mushrooms in different parts of the State.
2 apprehended for attempting rape
SHILLONG: Two persons were apprehended from a village in West Garo Hills by the village defense party (VDP) after they allegedly attempted to rape a woman. The incident happened on Saturday when the duo identified as Md. Foridul Islam and Md. Hafijul Rahman molested and attempted to rape the woman at Dolwakgre village and also threatened her with dire consequences. Both the accused were working as labourers in the area.
B’deshi found with injuries  
SHILLONG: On June 6, an unidentified person suffering from multiple injuries was found at Rengsipara village in West Garo Hills and was shifted to a hospital in Tura. The person was later identified as one Md. Sohag Miah of Lagpur village, Bangladesh who entered India without valid documents.
Complaint against fake job provider
SHILLONG: One Arda Kirang Rymbai lodged a complaint that one Jis Dkhar, who identified himself as an employee of the State Forest department cheated him of Rs. 50,000 with a promise to provide a job in the department.
Police complaint against doctor
SHILLONG: A police complaint has been lodged against a doctor for making allegations to malign and tarnish the image of two head of departments at NEIGRIHMS. Manbha Singh Kharkongor lodged a complaint that on June 9, Dr. Nilesh Jaybhaye made allegations to tarnish the image of Dr Asuma Bhattacharya, HOD, Anatomy and Dr Prithwi Bhattacharya, HOD, Anesthesia at NEIGRIHMS.
