CSWO(I) expresses concern over ‘harrassment’ by headman

SHILLONG: The CSWO (I), Jaintia Hills District East and West, has expressed concern over the alleged harassment of a family by the headman at Nartiang.
The headman, Bin Raliang allegedly halted the house construction work initiated by one Libon Law and Rukini Law on April 18 and even chased away the labourers engaged in the task.
Raliang, who “refused to acknowledge valid documents show by the family”, again allegedly directed his accomplices Jo Dkhar, Head Myria, Sati Myrna and Bait Phalangki to cut down all the trees in the affected family’s land.
An FIR was filed at the Nartiang Outpost in this regard on April 18.
In a statement to the press, Wansyrpailin Shadap, president CSWO (I), Jaintia East & West alleged that police have failed to take any action into the incident till date, which prompted Law to lodge a complaint with the SP, West Jaintia Hills as well as the CEM, Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC), the Forest department and Meghalaya State Commission for Women.
“The CSWO (I) has urged the SP to look into the matter and punish the accused,” Shadap said.
