Champion gets bail in arms case

SHILLONG: The jailed GNLA chairman Champion Sangma secured bail in a case related to Arms and Explosive Act from the lower court at Baghmara on Tuesday.
Earlier on June 10, the High Court of Meghalaya had allowed withdrawal of the  bail application by the petitioner after the matter came up for hearing.
The case was filed in 2013 by police under various sections of  Arms Act and Explosive Substances Act.
Sujit Dey, petitioner for Champion, said on Tuesday that in 2013 after the FIR was filed against Champion, he was arrested in connection with the case.
Later, the matter was taken up with High Court which allowed the petitioner to approach the concerned lower court.
