Chargesheet filed against rape accused

SHILLONG:   Police have submitted the chargesheet before a city court in connection with the rape and murder of a 19-year-old girl at Upper Shillong  in March this year.
Informing this, East Khasi Hills district police chief  M Kharkrang said that the prime accused Vicky Syiemlieh has been  booked under Section  302, 376  and 201 of IPC.He was also charged for destruction of evidence.
The incident happened in March this year when the girl went missing   on an evening after she finished cutting vegetables  at her house which prompted the family to launch a manhunt.
The girl was later found inside a jungle close to her residence, following which she was shifted to the Civil Hospital where she was declared brought dead.
Soon after the incident, the mother of the accused handed over her son to police after he confessed his involvement in the crime to the mother.
