Filipino engineer dies in Garo Hills

TURA: A management engineer, associated with AECOM India Pvt. Ltd based in Garo Hills, Rodrigo E Martinez died of cardiac arrest at his residence in Tura on Wednesday.
Highly experienced in leading site teams in construction and supervision of a number of highways and bridges, 72-year-old resident of Philippines Martinez was supervising road construction work between Garobadha to Dalu in West Garo Hills.
He was given the task of team leader in 2013 for the project, which is funded by Asian Development Bank (ADB). Martinez has been working on several ADB funded projects in India for the past 10 years.
Prior to his assignment in Garo Hills, Martinez was associated with several road projects in Assam.
The staff of AECOM paid last respect to Martinez on Thursday and his body was later taken to Kolkata to be flown to his native town in Philippines.
