SHILLONG: UDP MLA Embhahlang B Syiemlieh has urged the State Government to accept the peace talks offer made by the proscribed HNLC.
Speaking at a function here, Syiemlieh also slammed the government  for “lavishly showering crores of money on entertainment, while the poor remained neglected.”
It may be mentioned that the Government had ruled out holding political dialogue with any miltant outfit in the State until they shun the path of violence.
“We have been facing the harsh reality of poverty and we are vexed at the attitude of the Government which spent up to Rs 2 crores for Rock On 2 even as crores were wasted on other festivals which do not have a role to play in poverty eradication or development purposes,” Syiemlieh said while addressing a gathering during the inauguration of the hall of Dong Pdengshnong, Mawlai Mawdatbaki.
