SHILLONG: Congress leader CB Syiem has resigned from the post of the vice-chairman of the Meghalaya State level Public Grievances Committee.
Informing this here on Monday,  Syiem  slammed Chief Minister Mukul Sangma  for the failure of his Government on all fronts.
“My conscience does not allow me  to continue  with that post anymore ,” said.
He alleged that most of the Government projects like sports stadium and   art center have been sanctioned for Ampati  whereas Ri Bhoi district has been completely  ignored  by the present Government.
Syiem, a close confidante of former Chief Minister DD Lapang, denied that his decision (to resign) has any connection with the ongoing rumblings within the ruling Congress.
He, however, admitted that he had discussed  the matter with Lapang.
“I used to criticise the Chief Minister in the party meetings and now I am forced to come out in the open to criticize him,” he said while denying that he was joining any  other political party in the run up to the  2018   Assembly elections.
Syiem has sent his resignation letter to the  member secretary of the  State level public grievances  committee.
