Local Holidays
Deputy Commissioner, West Jaintia Hills district has declared July 12 and 21 as local holidays in West Jaintia Hills district on account of Behdeinkhlam at Jowai and Tuber respectively. All State Government offices, Revenue and Magisterial Courts and Educational Institutions located in the district shall remain closed on the above mentioned date.
Cleaning Drive
The association for Community Development Sohra Region is organizing a cleaning drive on June 28, at 9 am followed by a public awareness campaign at 1pm, at Majai village.
Book released
Frangrance of a Flower, a book compiled by Cheryl Susan Kharsyntiew Tada was released at a function of famous (L) Dr H.C.S Wallang (Dr Hem), held at Sohra on Saturday.  The function was organised by the children and grand children of Dr H C S Wallang and Silincy M Kharsyntiew. The book was released by the (L) doctor’s daughters Ivory Kordor Wallang and Silvery Dondor Dkhar Banks. Besides friends, relatives, others who attended the function were the MLA, MDC of Sohra, Church leaders and other invitees.
Office bearers
BJP, West Jaintia Hills unit in its meeting held recently elected new office bearers with J.G Kyndiah as president, Socrates Phawa and Reviveme Lyngdoh as vice presidents, IJ Dameki Paswet as general secretary among others.
KJHSTA meeting
The Khasi Jaintia Higher Secondary Adhoc teachers’ Association (KJHSTA), is holding its general meeting on June 25 at St. Mary’s higher Secondary School, Laitumkhrah at 10 am.
Yoga prog
The Shillong Cantonment board organized a two days training programme on yoga on June 17&20 at the Shillong Cantonment Board Community Hall at Jhalupara. The board will also celebrate International Day of Yoga on June 21 at Community Hall, Jhalupara.
