HPF demands school upgradation

SHILLONG: The Hynniewtrep People’s Federation (HPF) on Monday met Education Minister RC Laloo seeking his intervention in the upgradation of government lower primary and upper primary schools.
Addressing reporters after submitting a memorandum to Laloo, HPF leader Kitboklang Lyngdoh said, “At least three government schools in Mawlai are in bad shape. There is a need to upgrade the Nongkwar Government UP School, Umjajew Government LP School and Mawroh LP School in order to relieve the students of the hardship.”
The pressure group pointed out that all the schools had classes till the VIIIth standard and students were forced to seek admission in other schools.
The minister assured the delegation that given the availability of funds, plans will bemade to upgrade the schools.
